"JROTC builds my self-confidence and prepares me for life in ways other classes can't. It provides me with leadership positions that allows me to learn my strengths and weaknesses as a leader which will help me in school as well as in the real world. JROTC has impacted my life by surrounding me in a family-type environment which has given me the ability to build frienships and work as a team which has always been difficult for me before I joined JROTC."
-Rachel Cece, LET 3

"JROTC has done so much for me that I dont even know where to begin. However, one of the main things that JROTC has done for me was to build up my confidence by giving me resposiblities such as being squad leader to learn how to take responsiblities of not only my squad as a whole but each individual cadet making each and everyone of us grow as a person. This has helped me in my other classes when I am in groups and a task needs to get done where I am able to take initiative and help our group perform to our full potential. The family- friendly surrounding is the biggest impact that JROTC has made on me because it truly feels like a second home in which I can go up to anyone whether it is one of the instructors or even one of the cadets and talk to them about a problem I have and no matter what I will have the support and friendship that I cannot find anywhere else in school."
-Jennifer Chu, LET 4

"JROTC has given me stregnth, physically and mentally. Being a part of JROTC is the same as being a part of a family and we all treat each other as one. I recieve support from the intructors and more importantly from other cadets. There are things in JROTC that cannot be learned in other classes, teams and responsiblities that are held that no other class could offer and you learn how to be what everyone wants to be when they are grown up--A LEADER."
-Juan Rojas, LET 3

Faculty Members

"Admittedly, I was one of the skeptics when the idea of bringing the JROTC program was first discussed back in 1995. After seeing the effect it has on our students, however, I became a believer in the many benefits JROTC provides to the students enrolled in the program and the school as a whole. The leadership and communication skills, confidence and self-esteem, courtesy and respect for others taught in JROTC are invaluable to students as they prepare for adulthood. JROTC is a wonderful program and a true asset to Westhill H.S. and the Stamford Community."
-Carole DeLuca, Head Guidance Counselor

"I have noticed the positive influences of the Westhill H.S. JROTC program from my first weeks at the school. JROTC members understand on-time performance, team work, and also have the drive and desire to excel in the classroom as well as in their lives. Leadership skills learned in the program are a credit to the program leaders and all involved, past and present. We are very blessed to have such a program here at the school."
-Mark K. Lucas, English teacher

"The JROTC program at Westhill High School stands for discipline, leadership, fitness and honor, honoring what a person needs  for success. Success is not given, it's earned! The subject matter taught in JROTC and the support from the instructors in all areas of school are what help these young people of today be the proud men and women of tomorrow."
-Ms. Pippert, Special Education teacher

Parents

"JROTC has given my son an interest in school that he has not had before; a program that he likes and is very involved with and that I approve of in many ways. I like JROTC because it instills discipline and commitment in my son and it is something that he excels in and he takes pride in. I am very happy to support him in the extracurricular opportunities JROTC offers, such as Drill Team, Raiders, and Color Guard."
-Deborah Tual, parent of Cadet Corporal Daniel Tual, LET 2

Former Cadets

"Being a JROTC cadet helped me discover what I want to do with my life. I learned the pride one feels after seeing his/her pupil learn. It is because of this that I have decided to become a teacher after serving in the military. Another benefit is the network of life-long friends I made while in the program."
-Aristotle Alviso, Senior Class president of 2007
